Oryx

Oryx is known for her grace and fluidity on the pole. She loves contemporary, lyrical and sensual pole dancing and loves not just performing tricks, but linking everything together into a beautiful routine... although the tricks are awesome too! Her classes are all about gaining body awareness and confidence and making every movement count!


Oryx instructs the following:
  • FLEXIBILITY & TONING (Open Class)
  • This class is for anyone who wants to improve their flexibility on and off the pole. Flexibility & Toning will work on your whole body flexibility and increase your strength. You will then be able to apply your flexy gains & strength directly to your pole-work!
     
    If you aren't flexible at all, that's ok! This is exactly what this class is there for. If you're super flexible, we provide variations to make it harder for you. 
     
    This is a really great addition to your weekly fitness routine, you'll notice a big improvement with your fitness gains.
     
    WHAT TO WEAR: Socks, leggings, leg warmers or knee pads are a great idea to cover your knees for floor-based stretches.

  • SEXY FLOORWORK (Open Class)
  • Open to all levels - think body rolls, back rolls and legs, legs, LEGS! Come and work on your floor play. This class designed to have you melting from pole to floor, and floor to pole! Work on your transitions and movement across the floor, body articulation and stage presence! 
     
    You will learn a new routine every two weeks and at the end of Week 8 the class will select a routine for Showcase! Drop ins are welcome any time except Week 10! 
     
    WHAT TO WEAR: Platform heels and leg warmers/leggings are highly recommended.

  • CONTEMPORARY POLE (Open Class)
  • Combining contemporary dance and pole tricks & combos, this class will diversify your repertoire & provide a refreshing new way to approach pole dance choreography. Get ready to express yourself in a contemporary pole routine!
     
    You will learn a new routine every two weeks and at the end of Week 8 the class will select a routine for Showcase! Drop ins are welcome any time except Week 10! 
     
    This class is open to all levels; our amazing instructors will provide easier and harder variations to suit your experience.
     
    WHAT TO WEAR: Regular pole gear is recommended, along with leg warmers, knee pads or knee-high socks.

  • TECHNIQUE 1
  • You will need to have completed a beginners course (at any studio) to commence Technique 1. It is important that you feel confident sitting/standing on the pole and are able to climb the pole whilst spinning.

    The core moves learned in Technique 1 are your layout, ankle grab & bat, and cross leg hang back. By the end of the term you will have learned some new spins and combos, and have conditioned your body in order to invert safely & confidently.


  • TECHNIQUE 6
  • You need to feel confident with your aerial straddle (both sides), aerial shoulder mount (both sides) ayesha (split grip & elbow grip) and brass monkey in order to take Technique 6.
     
    Core moves learnt in Technique 6 include ayesha grip variations, handsprings, deadlifts, janeiro and pegasus as well as more advanced combinations & tumbles requiring advanced strength & flexibility.

  • DANCE 2
  • You will need to have completed Technique 1 to commence Dance 2. It is important that you feel confident with your layout, ankle grab & bat and cross leg hangback before commencing Dance 2.

    We recommend doing Technique 2 and Dance 2 in the same term. In Dance 2 you will learn a dance routine over 10 weeks. The routine uses moves from the Technique 2 syllabus, so it's important to do Dance 2 in conjunction with Technique 2.

    Our Dance classes are a great way to increase your stamina, as well as making everything look more fluid on and around the pole.

  • DANCE 4
  • You will need to have completed Technique 3 to commence Dance 4. It is important that you feel confident with your straddle on both sides, advanced jamilla, straight leg hang back, outside leg hang, inside leg hang & butterfly before commencing Dance 4.
     
    We recommend doing Technique 4 and Dance 4 in the same term. In Dance 4 you will learn a dance routine over 10 weeks. The routine uses moves from the Technique 4 syllabus, so it's important to do Dance 4 in conjunction with Technique 4.

  • EXOTIC POLE (Tech 1 & Above)
  • Ever wanted to seamlessly & sensually glide around the floor & pole? Want to learn the art of exotic pole and put your new skills into a sexy, alluring routine? Then 'Exotic Pole' is the class for you!
     
    You will learn a new routine every two weeks and at the end of Week 8 the class will select a routine for Showcase! Drop in visits are welcome any time except Week 9 & 10! (17th - 30th July)
     
    THIS CLASS IS OPEN TO TECHNIQUE 1 & ABOVE.
     
    WHAT TO WEAR: Your normal pole wear, heels, and a sassy attitude!

  • SP LYRA 1
  • Designed for those who have had previous experience with Lyra or feel confident with a strong, controlled straddle/invert.
     
    Learn how to fluidly move through various tricks and key positions to explore aerial sequencing and in turn develop strength and endurance.
     
    You'll also learn a fun routine over the 10 weeks!
