Chris

With a background in strength training and fitness model competition, Blue Phoenix took to the pole in early 2012 and has never looked back. He danced as part of Le Male (Melbourne), and is a member of the Aussie Pole Boys and their show – Voyeur, in Sydney. He has long admired the combination of strength, gymnastics, dance, flexibility and acrobatic aspects of pole, and brings the combination of these to his choreography and classes.

Chris instructs the following:
  • TECHNIQUE 4
  • You will need to be confident in your straddle on both sides, advanced jamilla, straight leg hang back, outside leg hang, inside leg hang & butterfly.

Core moves learned in Technique 4 include the extended butterfly, aerial straddle and shoulder mount.

Welcome to bruise territory! This is where we learn to really support our bodyweight in addition to some more difficult (and impressive) spins and inverted combos.

  • ADVANCED POLE (Tricks & Combos)
  • Welcome to Advanced Pole at Sydney Pole! In this class you will learn advanced tricks, combos, tumbles/drops & flips. The class requires a high level of strength and flexibility.

In order to enrol in Advanced Pole you need to prove via an assessment you are strong, controlled & confident with the following:

Handspring - split-grip (aka standard grip) & 1 other grip (e.g. cup, twisted, forearm)
Leg Splits (1 type - middle or front)
    Aerial straddles - both sides
    Brass monkey - both sides
Aerial shoulder mount - both sides

A high level of strength & flexibility is expected at this level, and students are encouraged to be doing at least 3 other strength, flexibility and pole classes at this level in order to adequately support your body through this Advanced pole class.

  • TECHNIQUE 6
  • In order to enrol in Dance 6 you need to prove you are strong, controlled & confident with the following:

    Split-grip Ayesha
    Brass Monkey
    Aerial Straddles - both sides
    Shoulder mount into leg hangs

Key moves worked on in Technique 6 include your aerial shoulder mount, ayesha in various grips, as well as more flexibility & strength based moves and combos from your Tech 5 core moves.

We recommend adding at least one conditioning and one flexibility class per week into your training schedule at Technique 6 level, in order to ensure your body is appropriately flexible, conditioned and prepared for advanced pole.

  • DANCE 6
  • In order to enrol in Dance 6 you need to prove you are strong, controlled & confident with the following:

    Split-grip Ayesha
    Brass Monkey
    Aerial Straddles - both sides
    Shoulder mount into leg hangs

We recommend doing Technique 6 and Dance 6 in the same term. In Dance 6 you will learn a dance routine over 10 weeks. The routine uses moves from the Technique 6 syllabus, so it's important to do Dance 6 in conjunction with Technique 6.

Our Dance classes are a great way to increase your stamina, as well as making everything look more fluid on and around the pole.
